DRIVING ON CAMPUS

Over the past few weeks, there has been a significant increase in unsafe driving practices during student drop-off and pick-up times on campus. For the safety of our students, faculty, and staff, as well as the drivers around you, we urge you to follow the rules of the road.

Do not pass other cars. We understand many people are in a rush during transition times, but please do not pass other cars on campus. This creates a huge safety risk with the number of pedestrians walking on campus.

Do not speed through campus. There are posted speed limit signs throughout campus, as well as speed bumps, to remind drivers to please slow down! Children are leaving school, and employees are walking to their cars. Speeding through campus is dangerous for everyone.

Do not pass school buses. If a school bus has its lights flashing or its stop sign out, DO NOT PASS. This means students are getting on and off the bus, and some may even be crossing the road. Remember, passing a school bus is against the law (even when you're on school grounds).

Follow directions from staff on campus. Staff members are on campus to direct traffic during drop-off and pick-up times. Please follow their directions and be mindful that their job is to keep everyone safe.

Pick up ONLY in designated areas.
This is especially important at the middle and high schools. Do not enter the MS/HS staff or student parking lots to pick up your student. Please only pick up students in the designated pick up area (behind the school).

LINE, SHAPE & SPACE
This multi-faceted lesson looks great and was not easy! Students were initially challenged with drawing objects from observation, a skill most individuals do not regularly practice. Once the students had improved their drawing skills, they drew objects from different angles, and each student created a composition that showed movement. The selection of objects and the placement each student chose show off their personality.

We then talked about creating value and mixing paint. Students carefully planned where to apply different techniques to continue the movement and balance they created in the line drawing.

The outcome is a bold and graphic interpolation of a still life.
