STAYING AFTER
Any middle school student who stays after school must have a specific, school-related reason to stay, like participating in After School Help, a club or organization, or taking part in a scheduled athletic practice or event. Students should not remain after school to socialize or hang out.
Students who are staying after school for academic help must report directly to the teacher’s classroom at 3:00pm and remain there for the duration of their extra help session. Students are not permitted to leave campus after dismissal to visit local businesses, such as Cumberland Farms or Stewart’s, and then return to school grounds. 7TH GRADE SCIENCE MEASURES REACTION TIME
Students in 7th Grade Science measured their reaction times as part of a unit on the nervous system. One student would, without warning, drop a meter stick. The other student had to try to catch it. The distance the ruler fell before being caught was used to measure their reaction time. Students enjoyed learning about science through a fun and engaging activity! HONOR AND MERIT ROLLS

STUDIO ART
Students in Studio Art studied the artwork of Jim Dine, a Pop artist known for his artwork depicting tools, hearts, and bathrobes. As a class, we discussed what a tool can be and all the different tools we use every day. The students selected a tool they thought would be interesting to draw and use as the subject matter for a work of art. Using inspiration from Dine, they created a composition with overlap, cropping, enlarging, repetition, and their imaginations. Once the drawings were completed, we talked as a class about how value makes an object look more realistic and three-dimensional. We study different techniques and media for creating value. Students selected the mediums and techniques they thought would work best for their drawings and added value to their tools to help bring them to life. Check out their fabulous works of art! |
