MRS. ROSE HONORED AS NYS DISTRICT 2 GOLDEN OWL WINNER |
Ten exceptional ag teachers were recently named as finalists of the 2025-26 Golden Owl Award for their positive impact in the classroom and communities they serve - including Greenville FFA advisor and ag teacher, Rachel Rose.
The New York FFA Leadership Training Foundation, in partnership with Nationwide and the New York Farm Bureau, recognized Mrs. Rose during a statewide tour on Monday, where she was surprised by a visit from NY FFA staff and presented with a $500 award check.
Nationwide established the Golden Owl Award with its state partners to shed light on the contributions of leading agricultural teachers and provide additional resources to support their programs in 13 states. The state Golden Owl winner will be announced at the New York State FFA Convention on May 16, 2026, and awarded $3,000.
Congratulations, Mrs. Rose!

2ND GRADE MUMMIES
Last week, Ms. Rufa's 2nd graders learned all about mummies. They learned how mummies are made, where they originated, and did a hands-on apple mummification science experiment, which the kids loved! Students carved faces in their apples, placed them in ziploc bags and covered them in salt and baking soda to dry them out. They will make weekly predictions on how long the mummification process will take and how different the apples will look each week.

PARENT INPUT ON PLACEMENT FOR 2026-27
The creation of class lists is a complex process that prioritizes the educational needs of each child and the needs of the entire grade level. Having parent information is helpful to us as we match children to their peers and specific learning environments. Please do not request a specific teacher, as these requests are not honored.
Final decisions regarding placements, with thoughtful consideration of parent and faculty recommendations, will be made by the principal. Responses to the Parent Input on Placement form are due by Monday, March 30, 2026.

PROCTOR'S THEATER COLLABORATIVE SCHOOL OF ARTS VISITS MIDDLE SCHOOL
On Tuesday, members of the Proctor's Theater Collaborative School of the Arts put on a production of They Built America: Workers of the Erie Canal for all middle school students. Kelly McPhearson, a fearless Irish lass, took students on an incredible journey to find her brother (and her only family in America), who is working on the Erie Canal. "Sourced from more than 35 historical records, this original work celebrates the real men, women, children, politicians, farmers, merchants, and laborers who built the Erie Canal – the miraculous waterway that transformed America from a burgeoning country into a great nation! Told with live music and text, history comes to life with figures such as physician Dr. Finch, Italian mason Antonio, Swedish packet boat Captain Gus, Governor DeWitt Clinton, congressmen, and many more!" Thank you to the performers, and a special thank you to the MS/HS PTSA for arranging and sponsoring the event!
MEDIA CLUB MAKING MOVES
Media Club has been working incredibly hard all year to elevate the quality and impact of our school’s morning announcements, and their efforts have truly paid off. Students have introduced several exciting upgrades, including a real teleprompter and new microphones, which have helped enhance the consistency and clarity of the broadcast. Beyond the daily broadcast, members have also taken on creative projects, producing promotional videos for important school initiatives like the Clothing Closet and the Shakes & Shenanigans attendance competition. Their dedication, creativity, and teamwork not only keep the school community informed and engaged but also allow students to build valuable skills in communication, technology, and media production. We are very proud of the work they’ve accomplished this year and look forward to seeing what they continue to create. Media Club meets most Tuesdays in the Library Conference Room if you're interested in joining.
DROP-OFF TIME Students may not be dropped off earlier than 7:40am. Teachers are in faculty meetings at this time, and we do not have supervision available. Students must be dropped off and picked up behind the school. DO NOT drop off or pick up in the student parking lot, in the faculty parking lot, in the circle, or in the lot by the tennis courts.
