MARCH SPARTAN STRONG STUDENTS
Our faculty and staff nominated students this month who Respond Respectfully, which is one of our Spartan Strong values. These are students who use kind and polite language in responding to peers and staff members. In whole group and small group discussions, these students listen actively and respond thoughtfully. These students always remember to say “please” and “thank you”.
Congratulations to the recipients this month! Everly H., Scarlette V., Lorraine J., Weston H., Gabe W., and Samantha N.
At the end of the year, all students who received this award will be rewarded and celebrated. Please take time every day to be Spartan STRONG!

VOLLEYBALL INTRAMURAL RECAP - GREAT JOB, SPARTANS!
Recently, our 4th and 5th grade students wrapped up an exciting volleyball unit! Throughout the unit, students learned and practiced fundamental volleyball skills, reviewed the rules of the game, and worked hard to improve each day.
Even more impressive, students demonstrated what it means to be Spartan Strong by showing excellent character, teamwork, and sportsmanship. They applied these traits while competing in both a regular season and an exciting playoff tournament!
I was incredibly proud of the positive sportsmanship displayed by everyone—great work supporting teammates and showing respect on and off the court.
Congratulations to all participants, and a special shoutout to our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams!
Thank you for being Spartan Strong! — Coach Warga
WAX MUSEUM
Yesterday, family and friends gathered at school for our annual Third Grade Living Wax Museum.
The Wax Museum is the culmination of an extensive project where students learn how to research, take notes, cite their sources, and write a short biography. They then bring their research to life by dressing as their chosen famous person, memorizing a script (that they wrote!), and reciting it to visitors to share what they’ve learned.
Thank you to the third grade team -Mrs. Dietzman, Mrs. Rosenberg, Ms. Schrader, and Ms. Tuthill - for teaching, inspiring, and encouraging our students throughout this project.
NUTS! THE MUSICAL RETURNS Nuts! The Musical made its return to Ellis this week! This beloved show has been performed by Ellis students for over 25 years, and it continues to be a favorite tradition.
This year, our first and second graders took the stage to perform for their fellow students, as well as their families and friends. We are so proud of our young performers for their hard work and fantastic show! An extra thank you to Mrs. Rochler and Mrs. Dollard for keeping the tradition alive.

SPACE IN SIXTH GRADE SCIENCE
Students in Ms. Bjorkman's 6th grade science classes are learning about Space! Last week in their science workshops, students created suns, moons, and stars through a creative, hands-on activity.
Using crumpled tin foil, they designed textured lunar surfaces, while mirrored jewels represented shining stars. Students added their own artistic touches by illustrating comets, asteroids, and spaceships in their space scenes. They also constructed suns with 3D rays, helping us welcome the arrival of spring and warmer weather.
SPARTAN STRONG STUDENT OF THE MONTH
The Spartan STRONG trait of the month for March is Never Give Up! As you go throughout your day, you may encounter obstacles that can prevent you from doing your best. Sometimes the obstacles are external, and sometimes they are internal. At times, you might even think to yourself that you can’t handle the pressure. You can. You have to persist. Continuing to do the same thing is not enough. You must try different things before you learn what works. This might mean seeking out a teacher for extra support or finding a space away from peers to help you focus. Remember, 'We are Spartan STRONG.'
Grade 6: Winter W. Grade 7: Domenic Z. Grade 8: Julianna F.

7th GRADERS RESEARCH THE RISKS & REWARDS OF SOCIAL MEDIA
7th grade ELA students have spent the last several weeks studying the risks and rewards of social media. Through the use of podcasts, articles, and news features, students researched how American teens use their time on social media and the positive and negative implications of the time spent on various platforms. The unit culminated in students writing five-paragraph argumentative essays based on their research. Ask your 7th grader whether they argued that social media is more risky or rewarding for teens and why!

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS DAY
On March 11th, the Greenville Advocates participated in Mental Health Matters Day hosted by the Mental Health Association of New York State. Mental Health Matters Day is an annual event where advocates gather to support critical investments that support mental health and suicide prevention in communities across New York State. Students had the opportunity to hear about mental health policy and join in on a rally to promote legislative action. A tradition at Mental Health Matters Day, individuals are invited to speak on why mental health matters to them. Lucas Snyder, Kaylee DeAngelis, and Kalien Milewski volunteered to speak in front of hundreds of people to share their stories. Kaylee DeAngelis shared: “The reason I spoke up about why mental health matters to me is because I am someone who has struggled with mental health in recent years and had wanted to finally speak up about how it had affected me and how I had finally overcome it.” Lucas Snyder shared: “Mental Health is important to me because teachers, students, and first responders often don’t have access to the mental health support that they need. Mental health support should be as common as hospitals are because mental health is physical health.” Our Greenville students inspired us all to let our voices be heard and to prioritize mental health.
