HAZEL JOINS MS. QUINN'S CLASS
Meet Hazel! Already a special part of Ms. Quinn's classroom, Hazel is a therapy dog that provides a positive and comforting presence for students. Whether they’re reading out loud, taking a quick break, or just need a minute to reset, Hazel keeps the energy in the room calm and makes it easier for students to stay engaged. After Hazel earned her official therapy dog certification, Ms. Quinn shared, "We have spent countless hours training, attended obedience school weekly, and reinforced her skills out in the real world." Hazel helps students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn in Ms. Quinn's class. Welcome to Ellis, Hazel!
EARTH DAY SCIENCE NIGHT Join us for a fun-filled night of Earth-related science activities led by the HS Science Club. Open to students in Grades 2-5, this event will be on April 22nd from 6:00pm-7:30pm at Ellis. A parent or guardian must attend with the child (it is not a drop off event). RSVP online by April 17!

5TH GRADE PARENTS YEARBOOK CHECKLIST
- Email ONE baby photo of your child by May 1. Please rename the photo with your child's first and last name and email it to submit+2134644@edophotos.com.
- Submit an advertisement to send your 5th grader off to middle school with words of wisdom or support. Create an account to pay for and submit your ad online by May 1st. A 1/8th page ad is $10. A personal boost ad (approx. 3 lines of text) is $5.
- Purchase a yearbook online by May 8, 2026.
SPARTAN STORE OPEN
The Spartan Store is open! Any student can stop by the store on their grade's designated weekday to purchase items of their choice. Most items range from $.25 to $3 and include things like fidgets, squishy toys, small toys, pens, etc. As items sell out, inventory will change. In addition, they will be selling Spartan Strong t-shirts (maroon or black) for $10 each.

HAIKU CONTEST
To celebrate poetry month, the Library Media Center is sponsoring a Haiku Contest. The deadline is Friday, April 24 at 3pm. All entries should be emailed to Ms. Conley. Each student can submit up to 3 Haikus. Haikus will be voted on by teachers. The 3 winners with the most votes in both the MS & HS (6 winners total) will win a snack pack (including candy, chips, cookies, gum & more). A haiku has three lines (Line 1, 5 syllables. Line 2, 7 syllables. Line 3, 5 syllables). Check out example haikus online.
Tips for writing a Haiku: - Imagine an experience that left a strong impression on you. - Think of someone important to you or a special memory. - Brainstorm adjectives. - Write in a quiet space. - REMEMBER: Haikus are about being creative. Have fun!
FLAG FOOTBALL INTRAMURALS
Any middle school student interested in flag football intramurals should stop by Mr. Haller's office to sign up. 6th grade students will have separate dates from 7th and 8th grade students. The first 16 students in each grade to be approved by the nurse will get a spot. Anyone who signs up after the 16 spots are filled will go on a waiting list. Play begins April 14.

Attention juniors and seniors - prom tickets are on sale during lunch periods! Prom will be on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 6pm-10pm at Birch Hill in Castleton. The theme is "Midnight Lights." SPRING SPORTS PICTURE DAY
Spring Sports Pictures are scheduled for April 14th. The schedule is below. Please remind your child that he/she needs to come to school that day with his/her complete uniform. The individual athlete pictures are used to form the team picture. 2:30pm - Varsity Track & JV Softball 2:50pm - Modified Track & Varsity Baseball 3:10pm - Modified Baseball & Softball 3:30pm - Varsity Tennis
Pictures will be taken in the M/HS cafeteria. Students need to provide one parent phone number on picture day. All coaches and players will be photographed. Team pictures will be put together using the individual pictures. All players need to have their uniforms with them on April 14th. There is no make-up date for pictures. If a student misses picture day, they will not be in the team picture from Upstate Images. If a parent has question about pictures please contact Upstate Images at 855-773-3321 or upstate-images.com.

How can families help?
If you are able to walk from the front lots to the back, allowing those who need closer parking to park out back, that would be wonderful. If there is no spot available, please use another lot. Do not park on the grass. If cones are blocking the driveway to the back of the school, then the parking lots out back are full. Please follow staff member directions. Carpool if possible. Do not drive around or through the barriers.
Parent Pick Up
Track, softball and baseball athletes need to be picked up by parents in the front parking lot (#4). You will not be allowed to pick up students out back when we have events going on.
Student Drivers Student athletes need to park in the student lot (#5) to allow the spaces out back to be utilized by our community, visiting communities, and those with the greatest need.
