STATE CHAMPS

The GHS Spartan Clay Trap Team came out on top after a great weekend at the 2026 NYS High School Trap Competition in Cicero.

Out of 48 schools from across the state, GHS placed first on Saturday, June 6, 2026 - 2A with a score of 468/500, which means they hit a remarkable 93.5% of their targets. They also tied for first place for their high scores across all three days of competition.

The team's top scoring line - the group of five who hit the most targets without missing - was Zach, Eian, Gavin, Cooper, and Chris.

Six athletes earned their straight 25 patches, including Christian Close, Chris Hoch, Cooper Hulbert, Gavin Lyons, Tyler Grupe, and Zack Bradt. A straight 25 is a significant milestone where a marksman hits all 25 (out of 25) clay targets in a single round without a miss.

Simone Beaumont earned #1 Trap High Gun Novice Female with a score of 79/100 - an honor given to the top-performing female beginner at Saturday's competition.

13 members of the team earned Trap High Gun Varsity Male distinctions as top-scorers in the varsity male division:

#11 Zack Bradt 94/100
#14 Eian Lafferty 94/100
#15 Gavin Lyons 94/100
Tied #16 Cooper Hulbert 93/100
Tied #18 Chris Hoch 93/100
#49 Tyler Grupe 88/100
Tied #52 Reid Hulbert 88/100
Tied #72 Cam Schelling 87/100
Tied #80 Nicky Liquari 86/100
Tied #115 Colin Alverson 83/100
Tied #127 Lucas Lounsbury 83/100
#140 Tyler Landry 81/100
Tied #141 Austin Hilgendorff 81/100

Congratulations to the team on a successful season and a job well done at States. Thank you for representing Greenville and making us proud!

INTERACT CLUB COLLECTING EYEGLASSES

The GHS Interact Club is sponsoring a used eyewear collection drive through June 15, 2026. Please donate gently used adult and children’s eyeglasses, including prescription glasses, readers, and sunglasses of all styles and conditions.

Donations can help provide adults with the vision needed to maintain employment, give children the opportunity to succeed in school, and protect the eyesight of workers in labor-intensive jobs. If glasses have loose parts, donors are asked to place them in a plastic bag with the frames. Donation drop boxes are located at the Greenville Public Library and the High School Main Office. UPDATES & REMINDERS

LOST AND FOUND
Take a virtual tour of the Ellis lost and found and find what your child may have left behind! All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the school year.

COLONIAL GAMES
This week, Ellis P.E. has been teaching "colonial games." Students had the opportunity to play games from colonial times, like nine-pin, tug of war, cup and ball, ring toss, and hoop and stick.

FLAG FOOTBALL FUN
Congratulations to our amazing Ellis 4th and 5th-grade students who participated in this year's Flag Football Intramurals!

Throughout the unit, students demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive spirit while learning the fundamentals of flag football. They practiced essential skills such as throwing, catching, and ball handling, while also learning the responsibilities of key offensive positions, including Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, and Center.

Students applied basic offensive and defensive strategies during exciting gameplay, giving them opportunities to work together, communicate effectively, and compete in a positive environment. Most importantly, they learned the value of being a supportive teammate, maintaining a positive attitude, and growing from mistakes.

I was incredibly impressed with the effort, respect, and sportsmanship displayed by all students. As always, thank you for being Spartan Strong!

- Coach Warga

UPDATES & REMINDERS

6TH GRADE MATH PRESENTATIONS
Students in Ms. Hamilton's 6th Grade math classes showcased their statistical and presentation skills last week. Each student independently selected a statistical question, sampled a group of people, analyzed the data, and explained their findings to their peers. The project required a full grasp of the topics, including population, variability, the definitions of representative/biased data, mean, median, mode, range, symmetry, and outliers. Presentations varied from posters to digital presentations, and questions ranged from "How many sibilings do my classmates have?" to "How many sports do kids in my class play?" The presentations were fun, engaging, and most importantly, the 6th graders knew their stuff! Kudos to the students for their hard work, and for Ms. Hamilton for guiding them every step of the way.

7TH GRADERS TAKE A TRIP TO TOPS
Mr. Lacy's 7th Grade CTE classes took field trips to Tops! The classes are working in groups to create business plans for food trucks.

Over the past few weeks, they've come up with names and concepts, designed logos, selected menus, and researched ingredients for each menu item. This week, they learned about food and labor costs. Each group was equipped with a shopping list that they created to guide them through the grocery store. Together, they decided on the best brands, prices, and items to complete their dishes without going over budget.

This field trip was a bit different, as students had to navigate the new layout inside the grocery store. Many shoppers complimented the students and their hands-on learning activity!

6TH GRADE END OF YEAR CALENDAR
The 6th grade team has prepared a calendar to help students prepare for the end of the school year.

STRONG PROGRAM SUPPORTS LOCAL FOOD BANK
On Thursday, June 4, seventeen students from Greenville’s Strong Program participated in a community service project at Patroon Land Farm, the primary source of fresh produce for the Regional Food Bank. Students worked hard in the fields, helping to plant more than 1,200 beet seedlings that will be harvested in July. Their dedication, teamwork, and positive impact were truly inspiring.

Following their farmwork, students enjoyed an end-of-year celebration at John Boyd Thacher State Park. It was a beautiful day filled with team-building, reflection, and an opportunity to give back to the community. Food resources are available on the Food Bank's website.

If you wait until after June 20th, it will cost you $15 and your college will receive them at a later date. If you have ever taken an IB course, you must complete this form by June 1st and I will contact the IB and have the scores sent to the college of your choice for FREE.  If you don't, you will have to reach out to the IB on your own and it will cost you $17 and your college will receive them at a later date. You can use Google Takeout to help you transfer your documents.  It will not work to simply share your documents with your personal account, you need to transfer them. Here is a Google Doc that walks you through how you use Google takeout. We plan to suspend all Senior Google accounts on August 28th, please have everything transferred by then. If you have any questions on how to do this, please contact Mr. Grennan.

Please bring your laptop to turn in at that time if you haven't already turned it in. When turning in your laptop, please make sure you bring both your laptop and charger.  If you don't have the bag, don't worry about it. If you have misplaced/lost your charger, please be prepared to pay for it when you drop off your laptop so we can replace it.  A charger is $35, we will take cash or a check made out to "Greenville CSD." *** IF YOU DO NOT TURN IN YOUR LAPTOP AND CHARGER (or pay for it), YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR DIPLOMA AT GRADUATION.  *** If you have any documents stored locally on your laptop (for example on your desktop) that you wish to keep, please upload them to your Google Drive before you turn in your laptop.  Your laptop will be erased after it is turned in.

FEATURING STUDENT ARTIST: EVELYN CORCORAN
Each IB Art student is required to create an exhibition of their work for final evaluation. Over the course of the class, students create many works of art, most of which focus on a concept the student is interested in researching and exploring. Students need to curate their work and create their own art exhibition, write artist statements for each piece, and explain the body of work as a whole. This is a lot of work! It also teaches students how to work and think like professional artists.

Over the next three weeks, the snapshot will highlight one of the three senior IB artist and their work. To see more, check out Ms. DellaRocco's webpage and Instagram.

"My comparative study focuses on the portrayal of animalistic creatures in mythology. Animals have been used in art since the beginning of documented art. Throughout the ages, people have adopted animals to have certain significance, whether that was an emotion, a cause for a landmark, or a status. In this comparative study, I will compare and contrast the meanings and emotions behind these mythical animals in these three works of art."
