INTERACT CLUB COLLECTING EYEGLASSES

The GHS Interact Club is sponsoring a used eyewear collection drive through June 15, 2026. Please donate gently used adult and children’s eyeglasses, including prescription glasses, readers, and sunglasses of all styles and conditions.

Donations can help provide adults with the vision needed to maintain employment, give children the opportunity to succeed in school, and protect the eyesight of workers in labor-intensive jobs. If glasses have loose parts, donors are asked to place them in a plastic bag with the frames. Donation drop boxes are located at the Greenville Public Library and the High School Main Office. For more information, contact Audrey Hynes.

STAFF BASKETBALL GAME

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our Staff Basketball Game last week. This was our most successful game to date, raising over $3,000!

This year's game was extra meaningful as we celebrated the life of Emily Smith '24.

Emily spent her varsity basketball career as #12. In her honor, both teams started with 12 points on the board, quarters were 12 minutes long, and each player wore the number 12 on their jersey. We also held a 12-second moment of silence following a beautiful tribute written by 11th grader, Kacey Capozzi. The tribute was also featured in this week's edition of the Greenville Pioneer for anyone who would like to read it.

In addition, Kacey created a beautiful memory wall dedicated to Emily, which was displayed outside the gym. After the game, the wall was disassembled and repurposed into a photo album and a memory box, which were gifted to the Smith Family. Thank you to everyone who submitted photos - we had over 200 on display!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, $1,712 will be donated to the Emily Mae Smith Animal Fund and the Emily Smith Memorial Fund at SUNY Potsdam. In addition, $1,353 will be donated to the ES Nurse’s Closet, MS/HS Care Closet, and MS/HS Clothes Closet.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting our "staffletes," the amazing causes they played for, and for honoring Emily's life with us.

Throughout the event, students interact with animals, learn from their peers, and sample a variety of local products, including milk, ice cream, honey sticks, and apple cider.
